我們時常可看到魚友反應,飼料太大顆,魚無法吃下!這是飼料顆粒尺寸太大?還是魚的嘴巴太小呢?

市售因應各種魚隻所需,會製作大小不一的尺寸,大多分為超細、小、中、大...等尺寸,提供不同尺寸魚隻大小食用。以魚覓食習性來看,體型較小的魚隻,只能餵食較小尺寸的飼料嗎?如果從魚的吃餌、覓食的習性來看,與人工飼養的觀賞魚吃餌進食方式,不同生活環境下的魚群,吃餌覓食習性與方式卻完全不同!主要是受到飼養方式改變了魚習性與方式。

(一)、觀察食物來源、覓食方式與習性 Observe food sources, feeding ways and habits
魚在大自然環境下,原本就是到處覓食,當找到食物時,會先入口咬嚼後再吞肚,坦若食物體積較大,會以啄食方式進食,不可能出現直接將較大體積食物吞進肚,當魚出現啄食時,就已將食品分解變小。觀察水池中的魚群,到處尋找食物,形成「一口一口吃」,當找到食物體積過大時,也會分次進食,不會將食物「一口硬吞進肚子」。

反觀,人工飼養的魚群中,尤其是金魚、錦鯉魚、鯽魚、鯉魚...等魚種,在倒餌餵食時,幾乎是搶奪、爭奪方式吃餌,魚群會「先拼命掃光食物,以免食物被奪走!」,當體積較大時,依然是「先吃再說!」,已不顧食物的大小。而許多嘴型較小的魚種,則受限於嘴型大小,呈現啄食方式吃餌,「吃完一口再吃第二口」,不會出現「硬把食物吞進肚子!」情況。而許多肉食性魚類,在吞食食物時,若食物體積較大,也會分次吞入,每口食物的體積大小都以嘴巴可吞入為主,也絕對不會出現無法吞食情況。以龍魚為例,雖然龍魚嘴巴張大幅度相當大,當餌食較大,也會先咬斷、撕裂後,讓餌食體積變小後再吞食。

另一個重要觀察重點就是餌料的位置性,簡單地說,就是「浮水」與「沉底」。觀察溪流、湖泊中的魚隻覓食,幾乎都在溪底、河床、石頭縫隙中找尋食物,鮮少會接近水面覓食,這種習性,一來可避開自己成為其它強者的「食物」外,二來,藻類、浮流生物、小蝦、小魚...等,多半分佈在中、下層區域,自然地,魚隻當然不會接近水面覓食找食物。以目前人工飼料種類來看,大多為浮水性飼料,沉水性飼料種類較少。就飼料的沉水性,除與製作方式有關外,飼料含水分、原料重量...等,都是決定該飼料為浮水性與沉底式的關鍵技術。以世界知名魚飼料公司《日本 高固力,高夠力,Hikari》為例,在多款金魚飼料中,為何大多為沉底式飼料,而非是浮水性飼料呢?

以人工飼料大小來看,大多可分為:小、中、大三種尺寸,在一般魚友的餵養觀念中,小顆粒飼料適合小尺寸魚,大顆粒飼料,則針對大型魚隻餵養。我們進行「魚吃餌方式」測試實驗,透過投放較大尺寸飼料,觀察魚隻吃餌方式,是否會受到尺寸大小影響,改變吃餌料方式,甚至拒吃情況。

(一)、孔雀魚吃餌 Guppy bait food
嘴型很迷你的孔雀魚,當然無法一口將較大尺寸的飼料吞下,在多次小口啄食進食吃餌下,最後還是將大顆粒飼料全部吃光。

(二)、金魚吃餌 Goldfish bait food
大多魚友選用的浮水性飼料餵食,魚隻吃餌料的區域範圍當然會接近水面。改以採用沉底性的《mini #1多效合一 好料》進行餵食測試,觀察發現,飼料在完全沉底前,就被魚隻「攔截」,而掉落在旁的飼料,雖然魚隻想先吃,但仍有飼料在嘴巴中,並不斷地咬嚼,還是放棄繼續搶食,將嘴中的飼料吞肚後再吃另一顆飼料。雖然《mini #1多效合一 好料》顆粒尺寸較一般市售飼料大出許多,但不會造成魚隻無法吞食,利用較大尺寸及較軟硬度,讓魚隻必須咬嚼待餌料吞肚後,才能再吃其它飼料。

(三)、底部覓食 Bottom bait food
平日飼養時,可觀察,再沒有餵食時,魚隻多半會在魚缸下層尋找食物,這種覓食方式,與生活在溪流、湖泊、海洋中的魚類相同,是魚類的天性。當魚隻吃到砂石,會立刻吐出,並不會吞入肚子。

(四)、水面覓食 Water surface bait food
大多市售飼料都屬浮水性,當投放飼料後,飼料漂浮在水面,會吸引魚隻會立刻前來搶食,雖然都搶奪浮水性飼料,孔雀魚...等其它觀賞魚,吃餌方式較金魚、錦鯉魚...等魚類「斯文」,多屬於一口一口吃,而錦鯉魚、金魚...等魚類,多半會「一次掃光食物」的搶奪方式吃法。

魚友擔心飼料尺寸過大而無法吃餌,因此,選擇較小尺寸飼料,雖然飼料尺寸較小,卻增加每一口飼料數量。魚隻為了搶奪飼料,往往在吃進飼料後再沒有咬嚼下,又繼續搶奪其它飼養,坦若飼料硬度較高,膨脹軟化速度較慢、較慢,就容易「卡在」腸道中,這些不易軟化、消化飼料,若在腸道中時間過久,容易變質腐爛,腐爛後餌料就易滋生壞菌引起腸道發炎。

進行較大尺寸飼料餵食測試,目的在觀察:「面對較大尺寸餌料時,魚隻的反應為何?吃還是放棄不吃?」,經過多組不同尺寸大小的魚隻,以相同的沉底性飼料餵食觀察下,魚隻吃餌進食方式出現變化,包括:

3.沒有出現「一次先掃光食物」,吞入嘴中飼料後再繼續吃其它飼料,形成一口一口吃餌進食方式。

飼料的大小並不會讓魚隻無法吃不下、吞不下或拒吃情況,魚隻反而會因餌料的大小,吃餌進食方式會隨之改變。
